Hardwood floor installed parallel to joists what are my options to fix it.
Engineered wood floor parallel to joists.
If the joists are at 24 o c.
If the joists are at 19 2 or 16 on centers laying the wood parallel to the joists should not be a problem.

I guess you wouldn t have to lay it parallel but the shiplap has a lot more movement then plywood or osb.
Some houses have the shiplap on a 45.
Sight lines and aesthetics.
If you have an older house with a shiplap floor the shiplap is perpendicular to the joists so the flooring is parallel to the joists.
This will ensure that the sub floor that you create is solid and stable.

If your sub floor is a concrete slab you can run the floors in any direction you prefer.
It could be ok but you are dancing in the danger zone.
First renail the existing plywood subfloor so that the old nails are tight and add new nails to achieve a maximum nail spacing of 6 inches.
If you are planning to lay a plywood or chipboard layer in between your joists and your engineered wood floor you should choose a ply that is at least thick and preferably 5 8 of an inch thick.
If the subfloor is stiff enough there is no reason why solid nail down strip flooring can t be run parallel to the joists.
When hardwood floors are installed parallel to the joists they will sag squeak and gap.
For strength and durability installing hardwood flooring perpendicular to the floor joists is recommended.
